and lost my nerve to post, thinking I was being too unoriginal! Oh, the perils of being used to reading academic texts ;)
Heh, yes, everything said must be of Great Significance.
All of my descriptions are based on my experience of these towns, which have been in bad shape for a long time, sadly.
Oh yeah, Detroit is another good example, a big city slowly ebbing away. The recent crash just made everything much more obvious.
